Integrative Psychiatrist, Transformed for Life
Dr. Carol Saur has been a practicing psychiatrist in New Mexico since graduating from UNM School of Medicine in 1990 and completing her residency in Psychiatry in 1994. She was board certified in 1997 and recertified in 2008.
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Saur has practiced adult psychiatry in a variety of settings around the state of New Mexico. These settings include:
- Private practice at both Christian Therapy Services and New Mexico Centers for Christian Counseling
- Working for the State of New Mexico in various state prison settings, and also working in outpatient services at the State Mental Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico
- For the past 3 ½ years, Dr. Saur has been the director of the MHTC, the psychiatric hospital for the New Mexico state prison system
Dr. Saur believes that psychiatric care should involve the whole person, and not just their neurotransmitters. Because of this, she has been studying Functional Medicine since 2012. By 2018, she had completed all the general medicine courses offered by the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), after which she shifted her focus to the Functional Medicine aspects of psychiatry. Since 2018, she has obtain additional Function Medicine training in psychiatry from Integrative Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH), from the Walsh Institute, and from Apex Energetics. In addition, Dr. Saur is currently enrolled in a year-long fellowship with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
